Helen Marie Waters Nelson, 80, died Nov. 3,
1997 at her home in Vernal [Utah]. She was born July 16, 1917
in Springfield, Ill., a daughter of Harry and Marie A. Fritts
Waters. She married Clark V. Nelson on Oct 17, 1937 in Arcadia,
Calif. They had been married for 60 years.
Helen was a housewife and an active member
of the Athenas Sorority in California for 20 years. She represented
the city of Long Beach, Calif., on a float in the 1935 Pasadena
Rose Parade. Helen loved being with her family and was a loving
wife and devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Clark Nelson,
Vernal; sister-in-law, Virginia Hendricks, Vernal; daughters,
Sharon and Ed Barrett, Pratt, Kan., Lucy and Tom Nemec, Vernal,
and Jeri and Dan Marsh, Penryn, Calif.; six grandchildren, and
two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers,
Lawrence and John Waters.
Graveside services [were] held Thursday,
Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery. Family viewing
on Thursday, 12 noon until time for services.
Services are under the direction of Thomson's Vernal Mortuary.
In addition to all the above, Helen was my beloved "Auntie" who made
for us a second home when we visited the "big city". She could cook like
a champion and set an elegant table. Her home was always kept beautifully,
even when raising kids, which she did with style, high moral values
and lots of love, always
keeping God in the household. I will miss you, Auntie Helen, and will
always remember you. Please say hello to my Dad.
